Let It Flow!

Pinegrove Sculpture Entrance with Water Flow Feature

This is our latest venture into creating these unique sculpturesque entry feature signs to mark the entrances into the Pinegrove Community, one of DR Horton’s latest new developments, 1,021 acres serene dwelling marked with streams and forest and of course, classic homes and townhomes catering to an active lifestyle in La Plata, Maryland began in early 2022.

Because of the importance of landmarking this unique development with just the right new name and complementary signs we were referred to the DR Horton team as a recommended custom sign shop from their main landscape designer, Rodgers Consulting based on our past work together.

Concept stage

As their marketing team, construction management and landscape designers worked through several iterations of names and visual ideas, we were there to support them along the way until we reached a final desired designation for the project and just the right look.

Some key considerations to move from concept to a practical layout, architectural integration, aesthetic appeal and appropriateness of materials and finish for Pinegrove’s setting.   Legibility and illumination for first impressions and long-term durability both of design and materials.

Relationship

Having the opportunity to partner with a client like DR Horton, America’s largest homebuilder, is not something we take for granted but after our initial meeting and an introduction to our enthusiastic and professional team and a sampling of our previous work, they awarded us with the primary entrance sign for the south entrance to this development.  Our success with the first phase paved the way for our engagement on this north entrance sign package.  Their team, absolute professionals, gave us great support and allowed us together create one of the most impactful entrance sign we have produced, a combination of stone, custom aluminum sign, unique illumination and integrated with a waterfall feature and retaining pool.

Trade partnerships

Complex projects demand the coordination and support of many trades, from code research, planning & zoning, engineering, landscape designers, excavation, masons, electricians, and of course, the project management team for the job site.  Experienced project management, good communication, precise drawings, material samples and reliable scheduling  were critical to the successful execution from concept to completion.

Project wrap-up

What happens afterwards sets up long-term success for our client’s investment to continue to perform and look its best.  As-builts, production and completion photos, suppliers po’s and additional critical data are saved into our server for future service as needed. Our work is marked by a complete parts and labor warranty for one year with additional products’ warranty applied as needed.  For example, most LEDs and power supplies carry a 5 year parts warranty.

Overall, our team is grateful for another unique custom project that profiles the unique capacity of our team to create long-lasting dynamic signs.  Equally important,  we were honored to be entrusted again with the production of this sign package to mark one of DR Horton’s really significant new developments on the east coast.
